Policies
& Waivers

We want The Open Art Lab to feel welcoming, thoughtful, and easy to navigate. These guidelines help keep classes running smoothly while creating a safe, respectful space for everyone.

Studio Policies

Registration
& Payment

All classes require advance registration. Your spot is confirmed once payment is completed. Due to limited class sizes, walk-ins are not guaranteed.

Cancellation
& Rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible.

Because classes involve advance preparation and limited seats, late cancellations or no-shows are not eligible for a refund. Specific cancellation timelines may vary by class and will be shared at booking.

Arrival
& Participation

We recommend arriving a few minutes early to get settled and comfortable. To keep classes running smoothly, we ask that participants arrive no later than 10 minutes after the class start time. After that window, we may not be able to accommodate late arrivals.

Once you’re here, you’re encouraged to engage at your own pace and comfort level—there’s no pressure to “finish” or create something perfect.

Supplies
& Materials

Unless otherwise noted, all materials are provided. We encourage participants to wear clothing they’re comfortable creating in—art can be messy, and that’s part of the fun.

Health, Illness
& Safety

Participants should stay home if experiencing symptoms of contagious illness, including:

  • Fever, vomiting, or diarrhea within the past 24 hours

  • Persistent cough or sore throat with fever

  • Contagious rashes or any illness preventing comfortable participation

If symptoms appear during class, we may contact a guardian for pick-up or refuse participation for the safety of others. Please follow current public health guidance for COVID-19 or other communicable diseases.

Accessibility & Accommodations

We encourage you to let us know about accessibility needs in advance so we can determine if a class is a good fit. While we make reasonable accommodations, not all requests may be feasible in every group setting.

Children’s Classes

Supervision & Care

For children’s classes, instruction is provided by our teaching artists, but we are not a childcare facility and do not have medical staff on site.

If a child requires medication or special care during class, a parent or guardian must remain present for the duration of the session.

Behavior & Safety

We strive to create a supportive, respectful environment for all students. If a child’s behavior becomes unsafe or disruptive, we may ask a parent or guardian to step in or remove the child from class.

Waivers & Releases

To help keep classes running smoothly and transparently, certain programs may require a signed waiver or release before participation. These forms outline expectations around participation, media use, and general studio policies.
