  • The Open Art Lab (upstairs at Fine Line Cosmetics & Tattoos) 1036 West Kirkland Avenue, Ste 101 Nashville, TN, 37216 United States (map)

This relaxed session is all about bringing everything together through your own creative lens. Students are invited to bring a reference image that feels meaningful to them and use it as the foundation for a personal drawing. Whether it’s a favorite landscape, a beloved pet, a study of flowers or plants, a travel memory, a book cover, a movie poster, or a personal photograph, the goal is to translate something you care about into your own visual interpretation.

Rather than focusing on strict instruction, this class encourages independence, problem-solving, and creative decision-making. Students will apply the skills developed throughout the Sketch Club series—composition, proportion, value, texture, and depth—while receiving support and guidance as they work through their individual pieces. This is a chance to slow down, experiment, and create something that feels personal and expressive.

Students will practice
• Selecting and interpreting a personal reference image
• Applying composition, proportion, and perspective skills from the series
• Using shading and value to create depth and realism
• Combining texture, light, and structure in a finished drawing
• Developing confidence through independent, guided studio work

Details
• $35 per student (non-members)
• Limited to 8 students for a more personalized experience
• Open to teens (13+) and adults
