In this playful, experiment-filled class, young artists will discover how to turn simple materials into magical, textured backgrounds. We’ll start by exploring fun watercolor techniques—like sprinkling salt and using plastic wrap—to create surprising patterns, bursts of texture, and one-of-a-kind effects. Watching these textures form is part of the magic!

Once their backgrounds are dry, students will use their imagination to build on what they see—adding drawings, simple shapes, and collage elements to transform their abstract textures into finished artworks. A splash of color might become an ocean, a galaxy, or a hidden landscape—the possibilities are endless.

This class encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Kids will learn how to combine different materials and techniques, trust their ideas, and see how unexpected results can lead to something truly unique.
