In this dynamic, well-balanced class, young artists will explore two different ways of creating—starting with movement and ending with focus. We’ll begin with expressive line drawing exercises that encourage kids to loosen up, move their hands freely, and build confidence in their marks without worrying about perfection.
From there, we’ll shift into a more focused still life painting, using simple objects as inspiration. Students will learn how to slow down, observe shapes and proportions, and bring their drawings to life with color. This transition helps them understand how both energy and attention to detail play important roles in making art.
Throughout the class, we’ll emphasize the connection between these two approaches—how loose, confident lines can support more thoughtful, intentional painting. Kids will explore basic concepts like shape, composition, and color while learning to move between playful expression and careful observation.
